Big Dog Brewing, Las Vegas, NV

Background –  Big Dog Brewing

In 1990, Tom Wiesner from Wisconsin, founded Big Dog’s Hospitality Group, a local chain of Wisconsin-themed bar-restaurant-casino properties. In 1992 he opened Southern Nevada’s first brewery. The company started as the Holy Cow Brewery on the Las Vegas Strip in 1993. Robert Snyder was made CFO of the brewery in 2000. Upon the death of Tom Weisner in 2002, the brewery closed its location on the strip.   The brewery reopened as Big Dog Brewing at its current location, 8 miles northwest of downtown Las Vegas in 2003.

Experience

Big Dog Brewing is a long time fixture in Las Vegas.  It is a large warehouse type building with separate bar with gaming of course and dining areas.  Also has a nice patio.  Easy to spot with a large dog out front.  The are located about 20 minutes from strip.  They have a large variety of food options, the chicken wings were pretty good as well as Cobb salad. Had a pretty large offering of generic beers available, favorites Peace, Love Hoppyness Pale Ale (took home a bottle) and Leg Lifter.

Did not note any nearby lodging.

When in Las Vegas we suggest you check out Banger Brewing !
