Darwin Brewing Company, Bradenton, FL

Background

Darwin Brewing Company traces its roots back to January 2012. Brewing started on a modest brewing system within the brewpub Darwin’s on 4th in Sarasota. They brew artisan ales and lagers influenced by the flavors and spices of South America’s Andean and Amazonian Regions.

Darwin Brewing is co-owned by general manager Matt Cornelius and brewmaster Jorge Rosabal.    In 2013, they expanded operations to DBC’s fifteen-barrel production facility, taproom, and beer garden in Bradenton, Florida.

Due to logistical issues arising from brewing in two locations in 2014, the restaurant’s seven-barrel brewing system was moved to the brewery in Bradenton.

In 2015, the restaurant Darwin’s on 4th closed its doors.

Experience

We have been to the Darwin’s restaurant in Sarasota (now closed) but we might like the brewery experience more.  Darwin Brewing Company has seating inside and a little grassy area with cornhole in the front.  They do not have food but often have food trucks.  We enjoyed a unique flight with Summadayze IPA, nice citrus nose and citrus hoppy flavor, Geraldson Belgian Golden Strong, smooth, honey and strong, Buc’s bitter, like they say Bitter, dry yet sweet, and Darwin’s 1926, tangerines, coriander. nice wheat.  Great seafood taco food truck on the day we visited.

There are a couple small motels nearby but, I might suggest going to Darwin’s first, then do the Hampton Inn and walk to Motorworks Brewing for dinner & more beer tasting.
