Fall Brewing Company, San Diego, CA

Background

Ramon Astamendi began homebrewing in 1995 and took the great leap to professional brewing in 2007. After working at two start ups, Saint Archer and Mission Brewing, Ramon and a coworker Dave Lively opened Fall Brewing Company in November 2014. Fall Brewing Company is in North Park and is located in a former automotive repair center.

Ramon has been also consulting for Hauck Architecture and has traveled the world installing/commissioning brewhouses for a low-end equipment manufacturer.

Experience

We walked in on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We were able to grab a few beers at the bar and stand around until a couple seats opened up. Had it been less crowded we would have gotten a flight and tried some of the lighter fair as well, but we did try several of the IPAs and found them to be pretty good. The beer tenders were attentive and friendly. There’s no kitchen, but they do have food trucks as they did the night we were there.

No nearby lodging noted, we walked from a nearby VRBO. When in the area check out Poor House just south and a bit further Eppig, Pariah and Belching Beaver. If you are in San Diego also check out Modern Times!
