Background
In 2012 Greg Rapp opened a kickstarter project to raise some funds to get Rapp Brewery opened.
Greg Rapp A homebrewer for more than 15 years, turned a hobby and an unfortunate, economically driven career downturn into a new full-time job and, not too long after, a small-batch brewing company known to adventurous and discerning beer drinkers nationwide.
Rapp worked in IT, and would telecommute on Fridays, so he would brew beer while telecommuting.
Greg started a homebrewing club, the Pinellas Urban Brewers Guild, which in turn began staging its own events. He brewers immediately began to garner positive feedback and encouragement.
Rapp often liked to work with traditional Old World styles, tipping his hat to his family heritage. His great-grandfather was a brewery owner in Germany at the dawn of the 20th century. His mother hails from Dresden, not far from the birthplace of the beer known as Gose, and as anyone who’s had it can attest, Rapp’s take on the Lower Saxony style is in a class by itself.
Rapp, 60, died in 2019 after a three-year battle with cancer.
Experience
Rapp Brewery is a nice brewery in the middle of Pinellas County. Many German style beers as Greg, the brew master is following some of his grandfathers styles from Germany. Excellent Gose, and the IPAs were pretty good. No food and no walkable hotels. You should not miss this if you like German style beers.
