Wedge Brewing, Asheville, NC

Background – Wedge Brewing

Founded in 2008, Wedge Brewing anchors the dock level of a 100 year old building with a 10BBL brewery/tasting room and an expansive outdoor seating area. Located in the heart of Asheville’s River Arts District, Wedge Studios was founded by metal artist John Payne. A pioneer of the River Arts District, Payne converted this 100 year old triangular three story building into a studio for his metal working and leased the remaining studio spaces to fellow artists. Now home to 20+ working artist studios, Payne’s legacy is alive and vibrant.

Wedge Brewing added its second brewery/tasting room in 2017 to expand with its River Arts neighborhood. The Wedge at Foundation is located a mile upstream from Wedge Studios. This historic building was constructed by Hans Rees and Sons in 1898 to house what would become the largest leather tannery in the country.

Experience

We visited the Wedge Brewing located in the River Arts District.  Such a fantastic space for a beer.  Go to the counter to order a beer and enjoy in one of the outdoor places surrounded by art. Stroll some galleries after your beer or walk around with your beer and enjoy the interesting art on the property.  The Raspberry Wheat was big on flavor and easy to drink. The Payne’s Pale Ale had a good floral nose and nice flavor.  Complimentary peanuts to munch on too!

No nearby lodging noted. When in Asheville also check out Wicked Weed Funkatorium, Greenman Brewing and Burial Beer Company.
