1912 Brewing Company, Tucson, AZ

Background

1912 Brewing Company was born out of home brewers Alicia and Allan Conger’s garage dating back to 2004. Both are Arizona natives. At 17, Allan joined the Marines and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon return to Tucson, he achieved a mechanical engineering degree, got married and began home brewing.

The doors swung open for 1912 in 2015. The brewery name stems from the year Arizona became a state.

Experience

This brewery and tasting room had only been open a month when we visited.  1912 Brewing Company  is off to a great start. Only two house brewed beer were available, but several guest beers and local AZ wines rounded off the list. No food. We got our growler filled with the Sonoran Blonde because it was so tasty.  An interesting flavor of tequila, lime and salt enhanced this light golden ale.  We also sampled Viejo Loco, a barley wine which was a little different than others of this style, a bit lower in ABV and malt forward made it very drinkable.  We met Allan who is enthusiastic about brewing creative varieties of beer.  1912 Brewing Co is located near Dragoon brewing so definitely stop in.  Friendly folks and interesting beer.

We have visited 1912 a couple times since. Their selection and creativity continue to expand. In 2018 began working with a distributor and 1912 beer can now be found around Phoenix.

When visiting 1912 , check out Dragoon Brewing just down the street and certainly Pueble Vida and Crooked Tooth Brewing !

We noted no nearby lodging. They do not offer food inside but often have food trucks.
