Background
Tucson natives Ben and Julie Vernon along with business partner Armando Basurto opened Crooked Tooth Brewing in November 2016. Ben and Armando both have prior brewing experience. The brewery inhabits the old 2,400-square foot 1950’s Charlie’s Auto Service garage on East Sixth St. The trio toiled for more than a year remodeling the old garage to house the brewery. There is a lot of salvaged wood in the tables and lights. The tables they created are beautiful blue beetle pine they milled at their uncle’s mill. Ben & Armondo loved to skateboard in their younger years and thus, the flight holders are skateboards. There are also several animal heads in the tasting room obtained from Julie’s grandfather. They attempt to local source as many ingredients as they can in their beers.
Experience
We arrived at Crooked Tooth Brewing Friday night and booked a flight. The tasting room is large with several tables and a wraparound bar. Large garage doors open up onto 6th Street. As you head out the patio you can see the brewing area. The patio is also large complete with corn hole and jenga. Being Sour fans we tried and loved the Physical Act of Love, Lazer Sound Waves & When Comets Collide. We also loved the Stout-Crime in the city & 18th Hour IPA, a delicious hazy hoppy IPA. They do not currently provide in house food but often have food trucks. Crooked Tooth is a new favorite for us in Tucson you need to try. When in the area check out Borderlands.
No nearby lodging noted. Tasting room is handicap accessible. At the time of this posting their website is not yet up although it will redirect you to their Facebook page.
When in the area check out Pueblo Vida Brewing and Iron John’s Brewing.
