Lefty’s Brewing Company, Greenfield, MA

Background

Owner and brewer Bill Goldfarb started Lefty’s Brewing Company in 2010. Bill or Lefty home brewed for years as he worked as a commercial roofer. Goldfarb spent his life savings and borrowed from his grandfather to open a 2,000-square-foot facility in a nearby town. In 2012 they moved to a two-floor, 6,000-square-foot leased brick building in Greenfield. For several years they produced beer and had an area people could come and get a taste and a growler fill. Finally in October 2017 they added on a cozy new taproom selling flights, full pours, crowlers and growlers.

Experience

We visited Lefty’s Brewing Company on a Sunday afternoon and joined a couple other groups of patrons. We were very happy to have a super nice and knowledgable beer tender. The outside of Lefty’s is unassuming, the inside is a warm, inviting tasting room with alot of wood. The centerpiece is a beautiful and unique 18-foot custom made live edge Sycamore bar, along with matching tables.

We opted for flights to start and enjoyed two excellent NE IPAs Fuzzy Valley & Fuzzy, Burbon Barrel Aged Imperial Oktoberfest, Graham Cracker Porter, Valley Wheat Through Oranges, Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, and Wet on Wells Street Pale. We also tried and then left with some cans of the peaty barrel aged scotch ale that was delicious. Lefty’s is another great place in Massachussetts for excellent hazy NE IPAs and other fabulous varieties.

No nearby lodging noted. Lefty’s has some snacks, beers to go and occassional food trucks.
