GoodLife Brewing, Bend, OR

Background

Curt Plants along with his business partners Ty Barnett and Pratt Rather founded GoodLife Brewing in 2011.  Curt Plants and Ty Barnett got their start in the garage like many home brewers. Setting around brewing small batch brews dreaming of opening a brewery of their own someday.

In 2017 Curt Plants passed away from a sudden illness. Curt had enrolled in the prestigious brewing school at the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago in 2009 and then continued on to the International Diploma Program at the Doemens Academy in suburban Munich, Germany. After graduating from brewing school Curt moved to Newport, Oregon to take a job at one of Oregon’s most well known breweries Rogue Ales. Here he honed his brewing skills even further from Rogue’s legendary brewmaster John Maier. But during this time living on the coast he began talking to his friend Ty Barnett about opening a brewery back in his hometown of Bend.

The current brewer is Tyler West who came from Silver Moon Brewing and Oakshire Brewing.

Experience

GoodLife Brewing is an unassuming little pub with a restaurant.  We enjoyed a flight, the Pale Ales and IPAs were pretty good.  We also enjoyed  Blue Balls, local beef meatballs with blue cheese and a balsamic reduction,  very good!

Did not note nearby hotels.

When in Bend you must also visit Crux Fermentation Project , Cascade Lakes Brewing and Bend Brewing Company !
