Background
Don and Sherry Stead opened Grace Ridge Brewing in 2016. Don began brewing his own beer in 1988 while the couple still lived in San Diego. He continued perfecting his recipes through to couples move to Homer in 1995. Don, an engineer, wanted to open a brewery for several years and his retirement in 2014 gave the couple the opportunity. The couple returned to San Diego in 2015 to visit breweries to finalize how they wanted to set up their brewery.
The Steads secured a space for the brewery in part of a new building in May 2015 off Ocean Drive on B street.
Experience
We arrived at Grace Ridge Brewing on a Wednesday afternoon. The barkeeps were pleasant and set us up with a flight. Grace Ridge offered six varieties on beer that day. We sat in the tasting area at one of the tables. There is also a small patio area. The beers were drinkable although none really stood out to me.
The brewery does offer some snacks although they do not have a kitchen. Grace Ridge beers can be found at the Grace Ridge Brewing Company taproom or the Grog Shop. No nearby lodging noted.
