Desert Eagle Brewing, Mesa AZ

Background

Desert Eagle Brewing Company opened in October 2012 in Downtown Mesa. They are officially the first brewery in Mesa. Brewmaster and co-owner Joe Campbell had been home brewing for years and paired up with Jeff Bryant to open Desert Eagle. The duo were excited to have the opportunity to participate in the downtown revival of Main Street. The brewery has several tables and a 44-foot curved wooden bar inside and several tables outside on a Main Street patio. The brewery survived the building of the light rail down Main Street but now profit from being one of several breweries on the light rail from Mesa through Phoenix. The brewery opened with just light snacks but now offer an inside menu for dining. They also provide live music on Friday and Saturday and occassionally open mike nights.

Experience

We have been to Desert Eagle a few times.  It is a comfortable place to grab a beer. They do have some drinkable beers, not the best craft beer I have had, but not bad .  The tap list was pretty varietal, always with the signature red ale, ipa, blonde ale and a tart beer or two.  They are one of the first breweries I visited that offered mixing beers to get yet another taste.  We did the golden wheat with the cherry blonde ale.  One can also obtain sandwiches, pizza and a few other items to eat.  Strolling the charming Main Street of  this historic area is fun.  There are a couple of museums nearby.  Weekends during cooler weather often have a some event in the area.

There is a Ramada by Wyndham a block or two away. When visiting Desert Eagle be sure to check out Oro Brewing right down the street.
