Buffalo Ridge Brewing, Hartford, SD
Background-Buffalo Ridge Brewing
Buffalo Ridge Brewing was founded in 2018 by Chris and Callie Tuschen. Both are from South Dakota but moved to Oregon for a time where Chris gained a better appreciation for craft beer and the styles made in the Pacific Northwest. He also began home brewing for seven years. Family eventually brought them back to South Dakota.
In 2021, Rick and Lisa Warkenthien and David and Amy Larson have joined the Tuschens as owners of the business. Rick Warkenthien has worked for Buffalo Ridge since it opened as a brewer, taproom server, and helped with graphic design & marketing needs.
Experience
We stopped into Buffalo Ridge on a Thursday afternoon while exploring South Dakota. The beer tenders were friendly and the place had a good vibe. The tasting room had 18 beers on tap which was exciting. We tried a couple of their hazy IPAs and found them to be very good.
The brewery has both inside and outside seating. We were not hungry but did note they had a few snack items, a couple of sandwiches and pizza on the menu. Growlers and Crowlers are also available to go. We love the fact that they raise money for non-profits every month too.
The tasting room is accessible, dog friendly, but closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We suggest you drop in for a beer!
When in the area we suggest you also check out Eponymous Brewing ! If heading to Rapid City try Woodland Republic Brewing !
