Outer Limits Brewing, Proctorsville, VT.

Background – Outer Limits Brewing

Taylor Shaw and Wesley Tice opened Outer Limits Brewery on July 5, 2019. They put their vision of an outer space-themed brewery and taproom in a historic brick woolen mill in Proctorsville.

On July 5, 2023, they happily celebrated the brewery’s four-year anniversary, and less than a week later, the state experienced what is now being called The Great Vermont Flood of 10-11 July 2023. For Outer Limits, this meant the total loss of their processing equipment, fermenters, and all stored product. The floodwaters also completely destroyed the electrical system, and the building was without power for almost four months. Six months after the flood, they opened again, their third opening. The grand opening was in in 2019, then they were shut down in 2020 during the pandemic, and, back again January 2024 after the flood.

Experience

We visited Outer Limits Brewing on our way to a ski weekend. The tasting room is upstairs in old brick two story building. The first floor contains the brewing equipment. There is an elevator up to the tasting room, but unfortunately, its broken… The tasting room is large with a U shaped bar in the middle with plenty of tables around.

The day of our visit they had 6 beers on tap, two Porters, one IPA, a Helles Lager, a Hefeweizen, and a Sour. The tasting room offers some pub fare like Pretzels, Salads, Wood Fired Pizza and Wings. They also offer growler fills and some canned beer to go. We enjoyed some snacks and a few beers. I enjoyed the Porter. If you are in the area, Outer Limits is worth a stop!

If you are heading to Burlington, check out Zero Gravity, Switchback Brewing, and Magic Hat Brewing ! Just up the road from Outer Limits is Castle Hill Resort and Spa.
