Background – Brues Alehouse Brewing Company
The Garcia family spent millions to overhaul the city’s former police station to create Brues Alehouse Brewing Company. Tony, son to Marty and Linda and holder of president and master brewer titles already at the age of 25, brews on a brand new 10-barrel system backed by 80 total barrels of serving tanks — placing him immediately among the top five outfits in our region in terms of capacity. After undergraduate studies at Claremont McKenna, a small liberal arts college in California, Tony attended the Siebel Institute’s rigorous and respected brew school in Chicago, which included a three-month study abroad in Munich.
Brues’ rooftop and Riverwalk patios make for some nice spaces, not to mention a fully functioning music venue.
Experience
We came across Brues while traveling through Pueble Colorado. Brues just opened its doors in January 2016. It is a huge facility that was once a police station and appears to be still under construction on the second floor. It has a beautiful seting along the Riverwalk. They had six beers to taste. My favorite probably was the Leadbelly IPA with a floral nose and good hoppy flavor. We stopped for lunch as they have several sandwiches and salads available. Within the Alehouse is also a bakery and expresso bar. What else could they possibly have put in that facility, Music. They do have a separate room with a stage and it appears they routinely bring in a variety of bands. This is a beautiful facility that given a bit of time will no doubt increase their variety of craft beers!
There is a Courtyard Pueblo Downtown and a Springhill Suites Pueblo Downtown hotels pretty close by.
