Headed to Denver to experience the Sour Beer mecca of Colorado – Crooked Stave. It lived up to to its name. We did not realize the tasting room was housed in a large complex of shops known as The Source, based in an original building from the 1880’s. After we verified we were at the right place and let our Uber guy go, we enjoyed! The venue offered various food offerings and a coffee bar to enjoy in between your beer flights. When we were there they had five beers on tap and five more in bottles. The Nightmare on Brett was my highest rated offering with a rasberry oak barrel Sour nose and flavor. Also enjoyed the Surette, a nice tart white wine barrel aged Saison, Progenitor, a dry hopped Sour was amazing, one of my highest rated. Motif, a Sour stone fruit dark Belgium, Fruity Cedar Box, a mixed berry Sour, Flor d’Lees a delicious golden Sour, and Serenata Notturna, a fruity big Sour, are all highly recommended. The Source did not offer lodging on site, otherwise I would have just stayed there for the week. A must try when in Denver or if your location is lucky enough to receive the bottled beer.
Did not note nearby lodging near Crooked Stave. We stayed in an AirBNB near the ballpark and used Uber to hit all our brewpubs.
