Background
Co-founders Ryan Dowdle and Shane Mozur opened Tampa, Florida’s Angry Chair Brewing in late 2014. They are known for their stouts and sours.
Head brewer, Ben Romano started home brewing in 2006. In 2009, he started brewing professionally for Cigar City.
Experience
A great find in Seminole Heights. After reading about Angry Chair Brewing we had to go because they appear to serve up a variety of beers, not to mention Sours! They did a fantastic job setting up the interior of this brewpub with an interesting array of piping structures in the chairs and lights and some great art work in the entry. The bar seats also excellent, especially on a hot day “riding the tractor”.
They had two IPA’s the day we were there, Byron IPA & Ascension. Both were good but, the Ascension American IPA had a wonderful citra hop nose that carries through to the flavor. I wish I could routinely drink this. The Ogmios Sour Red Ales were the Sour choices of the day. Tried the Sour Red & the Sour Red with Blackberry. Both delicious with the Blackberry a bit more tart. Honorable mention to the Kolsch with a nice mango pineapple essence. The next time I get fed up with my angry chair, I’m heading to Angry Chair Brewing.
