Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company has earned many accolades in craft beer circles in a short time. We have visited this pub many times over its less than two year existence. When their taps are full it is a pilgrim’s nirvana. They pride themselves on using locally sourced ingredients in their beer and food. More often than not a sour beer is on tap along with with several other Belgian styles. Our favorite is the very tart Bear Wallow Berliner Weisse, fondly known as BWBW. The Refuge IPA is popular and growler worthy. Even though we don’t typically drink stouts, a sip of the Presidential Imperial Stout can lead to future cravings of this fine elixir.
Yes, the brewers here are very talented and like to experiment. Always an interesting beer to discover in the Wilderness. Pair that with some great burgers, an interesting take on chicken wings or a pulled pork sandwich topped with thick cut BACON. yum. They also serve up one of the best house made black bean burgers. It an unpretentious pub that incorporates the arizona wilderness theme. It is expanding to include a nice patio and tasting room. Not much else around for the tourist, but worth the trip if the taps are full.
The Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company has expanded over the years and now have two patios and a dedicated tasting room for a quick pour or takeout. Last we heard another location is planned for downtown Phoenix. We hope they can maintain product and quality with any future expansion because this is consistently the best beer in Arizona! And we have visited and tried almost all this miserable state has to offer.
There are really no hotels we would recommend with walking distance.
