Bend Brewing Company, Bend, OR

Background

Bend Brewing Company is the second oldest brewery in Bend, Oregon opening in 1995. Brewing less than 1000 barrels a year, their beer is brewed upstairs overlooking the pub. Their brew system was made in Oregon and is one of the few direct fire kettles in town-one of the things they point to for the nearly yearly awards they garner.

For twenty years owner Wendi Day, along with husband Rob and father, Jerry Fox, ran Bend Brewery. It was announced in 2015 that the brewery was changing hands. The new owners Packy and Leslie Deenihan come from the Denver area. Packy Deenihan is a graduate of Oregon State University and lived in Bend in 2008-09 before moving to Denver, Colorado, where he met his wife, Leslie. Going forward, they believe there is an opportunity to expand production & distribution of Bend Brewing Co.’s beer.

Experience

Bend Brewing is another favorite of ours in Bend.  Some outdoor seating is available and a moderate number of tables indoors. This was where we found the first sour in Bend.  Elk Lake IPA & Salmonberry Sour – excellent! They do have food available and the appetizers we tried were quite good. Be sure to hit locals night with great brew prices and food!

Looks like you could stay at The Oxford, a boutique hotel and be walkable to Deschutes Public House, Silver Moon, Bend Brewing Company and McMenamins Old St. Francis Brewpub.

When in Bend also check out Cascade Lakes Brewing and Silver Moon Brewing.
