Background
Clay Yarn and Mike Bishop opened Big Storm Brewing Co. in 2012. The two met while students at the University of South Florida. After college, Bishop worked as a financial adviser and Yarn in commercial insurance sales. Both lost their jobs. Both really liked beer.
The original taproom is in Odessa which is across the street from their newly renovated brewery. They next opened a huge facility in Clearwater. Next on the agenda was Seaboard Craft Beer Holdings, holding company of Big Storm, to acquired the assets of Cape Coral Brewing Co. in 2017. Seaboard will rebrand the former Cape Coral location as a Big Storm taproom and brewing facility in early 2018.
Experience
We visited the 16,000 square foot Big Storm Brewing Co. taproom in Clearwater. A large facility with friendly staff. Beautiful brewing area and I am excited to see what will eventually emerge from the many barrels they have. We enjoyed a couple of flights and especially liked the Pacific Coast Hopway. We look forward to returning to see what new beers they have created.
There are three or four hotels within a $5 Uber ride. Also quite close to Pair-O-Dice Brewing and fairly close to Rapp Brewing. We suggest you try them all.
