Boulder Dam Brewing, Boulder City, NV

Background

Todd Cook opened Boulder Dam Brewing in 2007. His idea was to create a family friendly spot rich in the history of Boulder City. He researched building styles and décor from the early 1930’s and incorporated that in everything from the lighting to the seating to the millwork. Their choice in art also involves the ‘30’s, with half depicting the construction of the dam and half dedicated to the many great American breweries that folded during Prohibition. He received assistance from the city to acquire dozens of actual pieces of equipment used in the construction of the dam. These artifacts can be found throughout the brewpub and beer garden.

Experience

Near Lake Mead and Hoover Dam, Boulder Dam Brewing is for food, beer and some history.  The pub is centrally located in the charming community of Boulder City, NV.  A couple of beers we were eager to try were still brewing. The beers we did try were unimpressive.  We tried the Impellar IPA, Powder Monkey Pilsner, Powerhouse Pale Ale, Black Canyon Stout and the cider/pilsner blend Rattlesnake Bite.  The food menu consists of wraps, burgers, wings and sandwiches.  The food was pretty good.  Maybe next time the Tripleberry Vice and Hell’s Hole Hefeweizen will be on tap!  We do appreciate their clever logo and the items they have for sale rockin that logo.  They also have a large patio for cooler weather.

The Boulder Dam Hotel appears to be a great option for lodging nearby.  It is a historic hotel right downtown with many shops and a brewpub of course, nearby.
