ByGeorge Brewing Background
ByGeorge Brewing Co. in Munising, Michigan, is owned by George Schultz (who is also the head brewer) and his partner, Matthew Johnson, both born and raised in Munising Michigan.
George Schultz received degrees in both Chemistry and Pharmacy and actually worked in a pharmacy for 24 years before embarking on his own brewery. George first got into home brewing and then after formulating a plan with his wife Amber and partner Matthew Johnson, opened the brewery in early 2020, just in time for the pandemic.
Experience
We arrived at ByGeorge on a Wednesday afternoon while on a vacation through the upper peninsula. With room at the bar, we sat down and ordered a couple beers and thought they were good. We liked the fact they had a wide variety of beers on the menu and offered beers to go.
The tasting room has several tables and a bar. There are two dog friendly outdoor areas, one on a patio and the other upstairs with a little view of Munising. We were not hungry, but the Driftwood Deli is located just down the hall that you can bring your beer with you to eat there, or grab the food and eat in the tasting room. We suggest you give ByGeorge a try!
ByGeorge tasting room is accessible. For lodging, the Pictured Rocks Inn and Suites is pretty close. When visiting Munising, also check out East Channel Brewing that has some good beers and pizza! If you are heading to Grand Rapids, check out Arvon Brewing!
