Background
Central Coast Brewing
George Peterson opened Central Coast Brewing in 1998. They started very small and worked up to a five-barrel brew system — the one that adorns CCB’s logo. Then Brendan Gough arrived as an assistant brewer. After some time Brendan left and spent two and a half years brewing at Firestone Walker Brewing Company. A few years later Brendan returned to CCB and started a new wave of fresh, hoppy ales, stouts, barrel-aged beers and lagers.
Quite recently CCB opened a brand new brewery, brew pub and restaurant at 6 Higuera St in San Luis Obispo (SLO). The new location allows them the space needed to expand production and experimentation.
Experience
We have been to Central Coast Brewing several times in the last 10 years and have noted they have continue to grow. We were recently in SLO and wanted to see the original site again. They still have a bar and several tables inside and a deck out front. They have expanded their selections of beer. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and joined about 12 patrons. We took a spot on the deck and ordered a flight. We enjoyed the Passionfruit A La Tart, Berliner and Catch 23 a black IPA.
CCB has snacks available. There were handcrafted tacos the day of our visit. As mentioned above a cafe is opening next door in the original location. The new location has food on sight.
There is a Quality Suites Downtown SLO & Lamplighter hotels near the original site. Weare looking forward to checking out the new site!
