Claremont Craft Ales, Claremont, CA

Background

Husband and wife team Simon Brown and Emily Moultrie opened Claremont Craft Ales in 2012. The brewing bug hit Simon after Emily bought him a home brewing kit. Emily grew up in Claremont and the couple decided that would be where the brewery would be located. Production began on a tiny 3 barrel brewing system, with only 100 barrels of beer being produced in the first year. Claremont quickly grew a following in the community and is expecting to produce over 3,000 barrels in 2018. Their beers are canned and bottled and can be found around the Inland Empire.

Experience

We arrived at Claremont on a Friday afternoon and had no problem finding a table near the bar. As often is the case, the brewery is in an industrial park with an unassuming entrance. Covering the entrance is a 10×10 foot pop up to afford a bit of shade over a couple of chairs. The tasting room is a large space with a mixture of sofas, tables and a bar. 25 different beers were available for us to try so we opted for a flight of IPAs. All were quite drinkable, probable favorite: the Desert IPA with a heavy Juniper presence.

There are some shelf stable snacks available and most evenings food trucks are on site. No nearby lodging noted. When visiting Claremont, we suggest you check out the nearby Last Name Brewing.
