Deschutes Brewery & Public House, Bend OR

Background – Deschutes Brewery & Public House

Gary Fish established the Deschutes Brewery & Public House as small brew pub in 1988 in downtown Bend and named it after the Deschutes River. Unable to keep up with demand in its original facility, the brewery expanded to a 16,000-square-foot production brewery in 1993 with the ability to brew in 50-barrel batches. Deschutes Portland Public House opened in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon in May 2008.

In March 2016, Deschutes announced that they would build an east coast production facility in Roanoke, Virginia.

Experience

Deschutes has a huge production brewery in Bend.  You can take brewery tours and get tastings, we understand it is a good time.  We opted to go to the Deschutes Brewery & Public House that is more in town.  They have a full menu of food available.  If you are a Deschutes fan, they have all their regulars and a few seasonal beers to try. We were not bowled over with the selection or variety but the beer was adequate.

Looks like you could stay at The Oxford, a boutique hotel and be walkable to Deschutes Public House, Silver Moon, Bend Brewing Company and McMenamins Old St. Francis Brewpub.

When in Bend also check out Cascade Lakes Brewing and Bend Brewing Company.
