Escape Craft Brewery, Redlands, CA

Background

Melissa & Josh Fisher opened Escape Craft Brewery in 2015. Josh has been a craft beer enthusiast and home brewer since his early 20s. He actually worked up to an impressive 10 tap kegerator system at home. At the encouragement from friends, the Fishers finally opened their own brewery. Both Josh and Melissa have jobs outside the brewery. Josh has been a firefighter in the area for several years.

Experience

We arrived at Escape Craft Brewery on a Tuesday afternoon and joined about a half a dozen patrons. The tasting room is quite large with several tables inside and a patio in the back. The brewing equipment is visible from the tasting room. The place is dog and kid friendly and there is even a children’s play area. There is definitely a travel theme incorporated in Escape’s tasting room that includes an area using old airline seats and many different uses of suitcases. They also show a lot of creativity by repurposing doors from a historic hotel to create tables and walls. As with many other breweries in the area, you will be at the mercy of the current outside temperature, even though they incorporate a huge fan, it was a bit warm on the August afternoon we visited. Luckily the beers were cold and worth the warm temperatures. We enjoyed a flight of six beers and ended up leaving with a bottle of “Living Like Rupert”, a refreshing fruit Kolsch and a Crowler of “Lazy Day IPA”.  We also bought a four pack of one of the most unique beers we have tasted. Sakura is a white ale brewed with green tea and cherry blossom. Refreshing, light and tasty for a warm summer day.  The can art is also quite impressive.

They have several different types of snacks available and occasional food trucks.

There is no nearby lodging noted. When visiting the area you can also try out Hanger 24 & Ritual Brewing, both of which we have reviewed on this site.
