Background
The HOOTS Beer Co. was formed in late 2011 by partners Eric Weyer, Eric Swaim and Ralph Pritts. They like many others home brewed for some time and dreamed of opening their own brewery. HOOTS is named for the building it is in – The Hoots Roller Mill and storage warehouse were once used to produce flour. Built by the Hoots family between the 1930s and 1950s, the buildings are full of local history and character. The trio used Kickstarter to raise funds to help with the renovation. They replace Mill with Bar. The doors opened in 2013. They were lucky to hook up with Dave McClure to help them set up the brewery. Dave continues to be the master brewer.
Experience
We were told by some locals at Small Batch Brewing we needed to visit HOOTS Beer Co. Cool facility, nice patio, interesting bar area. The beer we tried were pretty good and we got to play some pinball. We walked next door for some Tex-Mex at The Porch. Fun Place!
With their continued success, the trio announced a second location on Trade Street. The new spot will sell HOOTS beer plus other wine and full line of cocktails.
When in the west end, check out Small Batch Beer Company and Foothills Brewing.
