Kelly’s Brewpub, Albuquerque, NM

On our travels we are in search of good craft beer. It is always an added extra to find decent craft beer in interesting places.  Kelly’s Brew Pub in Albuquerque is definitely an interesting place full of classic American midcentury modern history. Jones Motor Company was built in 1939. It featured a state of the art gas station on route 66 and a showroom for new Ford automobiles. The building has been listed on the National Registry of Historic places.  Kelly’s brewery acquired the property in 1999 and sought to restore the building to its original glory.  It is a sprawling place with a wonderful large outdoor patio.  It is located on a corner in the historic and hip Nob Hill neighborhood.  We enjoyed a beautiful New Mexico sunset while we dined on the patio.

The brewery was sold in 2016 to the company that also owns other New Mexico breweries, Blue Corn and Chamas River, but they retained the original brewers.  We found the Apricot Blonde Ale to be delicious and refreshing and we left with a six pack.  The New Mexican inspired dishes we had were very good also.  The beer may not meet the expectations of the pickiest of beer geeks, but the setting and ambience is worth the trip.

No nearby lodging noted, Uber my friends.
