Labrewatory, Portland, OR

Background

Labrewatory opened its doors in January 2016. Owner Thad Fiasco of Portland Kettle Works, opened the state-of-the-art system for anyone who wants to whip up an experimental batch. Portland’s only brewery where you can try experimental beers made by some of the best brewers around paired with gourmet pretzels and amazing offerings from our Tamale Boy neighbor.

Portland Kettle Works, a full service brewery fabricator who has assisted dozens of breweries across America installed their 3.5 barrel “Hopmaster” system at the brewery.

Experience

We loved the open modern design of the tasting room, right off the brewing equipment. There were four  varieties brewed there and four guest beers available the day we visited. We tried all the offerings and favored the Brett Wabi-Sabi, a Brett Pale brewed by Baird Brewing from Japan. Also the “Follow Your Gose” was a nicely tart Gose. Everything we tried was different and delicious. The Labrewatory is connected to the Tamale Boy restaurant. Excellent eats to enjoy while trying the experimental brews. One of our highlights in Portland.

Looks like as of late, they usually have twelve plus handles available.
