Last Stand Brewing was founded in the Drippings Springs area in 2015. Kerry Richardson, with his chemist wife, Mandi, and former coworker Mignonne Gros brought Last Stand to life. They chose the area called Craftsman Park just up the street from Jester King on Fitzhugh road. They joined Argus Cidery and Revolution Spirits also in Craftsman Court.
Richardson and Gros have been longtime homebrewers who decided to take their hobby to a professional level.
Last Stand Brewing is working with the City of Austin to open a second location at The Collective in Austin in 2020.
Experience
After a visit to Jester King we stopped by Last Stand to check them out. It was odd after the throngs of patrons at Jester King to walk into a pretty quiet Last Stand tap room.
The tasting room is very accessible. We chatted with the friendly beer tender about the brewery and ordered a flight. We tried the Citra Smash, Fuzzieluscious an experimental IPA as well as the Watermelon Kolsch. My favorite was the Fuzzieluscious IPA. We tried a couple more, one of which was Vampire’s Victim, a pale red tinged lager with the most unique shimmering appearance.
Last stand has food trucks on the weekends. No nearby lodging noted. When in the area check out Jester King and Acopone breweries.
