Little Miss Brewing, Encinitas, CA

Background

Husband and wife Greg & Jade Malkin founded Little Miss Brewing in San Diego’s Miramar neighborhood in 2016. This location houses the brewery.

The couple has expanded to five tasting rooms each themed in the WWII era. The original Miramar site is themed after the US military and each subsequent site reflecting one of the Allied nations. Second was a Normal Heights satellite tasting room in 2017 themed as the British military giving the place a pub like feel. The third tasting room opened in 2019 and is in East village. This site gives a nod to the French. La Mesa was the fourth tasting room themed after the Canadians. The fifth site in Escondido is themed after Russia.

Little Miss Brewing also lost its founding brewmaster, Joe Lisica, in 2017. Mike Morbitzer then took over brewing operations but has since been replaced by Guillermo Lopez, who previously worked for Ballast Point, Green Flash, and Stone.

Experience

We arrived on a Monday afternoon to join just a couple folks. The tasting room is handicap accessible. We encountered a low light tasting room with a bar and a few tables. The Russian WWII allied nation was the theme. We ordered a flight and chatted with the friendly beer tender. My favorite was the Fog of War – NEIPA, nice nose and good flavor and Weapon X – NEIPA.

Overall decent beer and friendly surroundings. We encourage you to follow Little Miss with a walk down the street to visit Plan Nine Alehouse.

No nearby lodging noted. When in the area check out Jacked Up Brewing, Wild Barrel Brewing, Mason Ale Works, Abnormal Brewing & a great beer bar, Plan Nine Alehouse.
