Mill House Brewing, Poughkeepsie, NY

Background

Mill House Brewing started as an idea from siblings and their father Bob. They enlisted the help of restaurateurs Chris and Daniel Crocco as well as brewmasters Jamie Bishop and Larry Stock. Mill House opened on Mill Street in Poughkeepsie in the Fall of 2013.

Experience

We arrived on a Monday early afternoon and found the parking lot to be packed. We decided to go be a tourist in Hyde Park rather than wait and returned early in the evening. The place was still packed but we parked in the nearby church and luckily got a spot at the bar. There are tables and chairs off the bar and a dining area around the corner on the other side of the wrap around bar.  The atmosphere is cozy, like dining in an old house. If one needs a bathroom, they are located upstairs (no elevator seen). There are more  dining areas on the second and third floors and an outdoor patio.

Mill House Brewing also offers a deli area where one can find sausages, Charcuterie and beer to go. We had a great bartender and enjoyed Citra Bridges, a hoppy sour ale, Hubar, an IPA, Kilt Spinner, a Scotch Ale & Cucumber Blessings a creamy cucumber ale. We left with some Cucumber Blessings to go. Our dinner in the dining room was great. Overall we really enjoyed the quaint charm and beauty of  Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park and  Mill House .

The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel is down the street.
