Background – New City Brewery
Sam Dibble began brewing small batches of mead in his carpentry shop in 2006. When friends were looking for help with their new kombucha business in 2007, Sam became their first employee and worked to increase the product line of Green River Ambrosia. During that time Sam began to perfect an alcoholic, Jamaican-style ginger beer. In 2013, along with several of his good friends as business partners, New City Brewery was born. They took up the challange of renovating an 1800’s mill building set in historic Easthampton, MA. By March 2015 New City was distributing Ginger Beer in bars, restaurants, and stores. By August of 2015 the tap room opened and their beer selection increased.
Experience
We arrived on a Friday early evening after visiting Abandoned Building Brewery. There was a private event in half of the taproom and although it was quite busy, we were able to find a table. We tried the infamous Ginger Beer and enjoyed the Connecticut River Kolsch & Sundowner, a lightly tart Sour. We did enjoy a great dinner delivered by a nearby restaurant. I believe I would need to drink more Ginger beer to develop a taste for it, but the experience was fun.
New City has occasional food trucks and have nearby restaurants who deliver. No nearby lodging noted, but great views of the Lower Mill Pond. When visiting New City Brewing, check out http://abandonedbuildingbrewery.com/
