Background
North Mountain Brewing is located in North Phoenix, near Sunnyslope. Not necessarily a tourist destination, but this brewery makes a visit worthwhile. Owner Rob Berkner, a Phoenix native and avid home brewer opened North Mountain in March 2013. Berkner home-brewed his first batch of beer in 1994 and completed the Siebel Institute International Diploma in Brewing Science in 2007. This included training at the Doemens Brewing Academy in Munich, Germany.
Community tables and single tops allow for the experience you choose. A bit of a bar to sit at or a few outside tables are also available.
Experience
My favorite thing about North Mountain Brewing is that any beer can be ordered on nitro! It’s fun when they aren’t too busy and do a table side production creating that foamy creamy goodness that makes almost all styles of beer a bit more heavenly. Check out the picture below. We have had everything from IPA, pale ale, stouts, porters, wheat beer and Belgium style beer. The food available is very tasty and ventures off the path of typical pub fare. Tuna poke is delicious for a different bite. Flatbreads, burgers, wings and entrees make for a diverse selection. Pairing with that is a large and varietal house brew tap list.
Venture over for some live entertainment on some nights. We enjoyed some impressive folk/classic/country tunes one evening. They also serve weekend brunch that we need to try.
When in Phoenix, do yourself a favor and visit Wren House Brewing.
