Background
John Cheek’s Orlando brewing opened 2004. They are Orlando’s oldest independent brewery and is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. There is only six organic breweries in the United States.
Orlando Brewing’s first home was in a warehouse that was seized by FDOT under eminent domain. They moved into a warehouse just up the street in SODO’s industrial park area and has been there ever since. Now, the building is about to be sold to Orlando Health to be used for operations purposes as they continue to expand their campus in the area. The ownership is hunting a new spot.
Their beers can be found in over 500 locations in Florida and Graeme Lay is now our Brewmaster.
Experience
Orlando Brewing is a bit of a drive from downtown Orlando in an industrial area. We arrived midweek in early afternoon and there was plenty of room at the bar. We ordered a flight and I’m not sure we rated anything over a 3.5. In our opinion, we didn’t think the beers were carbonated enough or cold enough.
They do not offer food on site although they have occasional food trucks.
No nearby lodging noted.
When in Orlando, we think the best variety of beers is at Redlight Redlight.
