Background
Bryan Leavelle and Brandon Proff opened up Our Mutual Friend Brewing in 2012 which makes it one of the oldest breweries in RiNo. From starting the brewery with a with a one barrel system and soon grew to a three then a five barrel system, then a seven barrel system. Bryan started as the Head Brewer, and has since transferred the ‘torch’ to the current Head Brewer, Jan Chodkowski. In 2015 at the Great American Beer festival they captured a Silver for their Wood/Barrel aged 24 frames per second.
Our Mutual Friend has recently grown its infrastructure and capacity, including the addition of three new foeders in order to increase their production to bring their beers to both on- and off-premise accounts in Denver and the surrounding area. They will be working with TRVE Brewing in a distribution partnership.
Experience
The Our Mutual Friend Brewing tasting room has a few tables and a small bar. They also have a good sized patio. I’ll have to say evidently we were not one of the mutual friends as we didn’t garner much attention although we were able to eventually get a flight. We enjoyed the tart Jack of Hearts Sour Ale and the Gose.
