Oyster House Brewing, Asheville, NC

Background – Oyster House Brewing

Head brewer and owner of Oyster House Brewing, Billy Klingel began brewing his Moonstone Oyster Stout in 2009 when he worked for The Lobster Trap restaurant. After he perfected that beer he decided it was time he could open his own brewery.
Open on Haywood Road since June 2013, the Oyster House has fast become a favorite neighborhood spot. The transition to a larger West Asheville location has allowed the Oyster House to expand their beer selection to include a wide variety of styles and add full restaurant service.

Experience

Oyster House is a funky little pub is a bit off the track in Asheville, not in the thick of things, but worth the drive, especially for happy hour.  A dozen oysters for $12 and some delicious house brewed beer.  Their signature ale is the Moonstone Oyster Stout, but the day we were there my favorite was the Papaya Blond on cask.  They serve up a decent IPA too.  It is a cute place with a cozy bar, inside and outside tables.  Nice southern/seafood inspired food menu too.  Obviously a variety of oysters are available too!  The beer braised brussels sprouts were delicious.

No nearby lodging noted.

When visiting the area check out the Wedge Brewing, The Funkatorium and Burial Brewing.
