Background
Neal Farrell and Kristina Frosch opened Peoria Artisan Brewery in 2013. Their Litchfield Taproom is in historic Litchfield Park, AZ just adjacent to the historic Wigwam Resort, a great place to stay. The Taproom is a small neighborhood establishment where brewer Joe Porter brews 1BBL batches of beer (31 gallons) and is working with a small barrel program.
In November of 2015 the duo teamed up with Chef Michael Mahalick to open Peoria Artisan Brewery and Gastropub in Peoria. The facility was completely remodeled and piped to accept a 5BBL brewery and a full kitchen. The new brewpub is much larger with seating for about 70 inside, an L-shaped wooden bar and a pleasant covered patio. Locally sourced ingredients contribute to an eclectic menu of food items available for lunch and dinner.
Experience
We enjoyed the Litchfield location soon after they were open. We were impressed with the early beer selection. The Peoria location is much larger with great indoor and patio spaces. We have enjoyed their red and black Haboob IPAs. We also really enjoyed when they offered the Axl Gose. The menu is quite varietal and we love the delicious devil eggs and crispy pig ears while enjoying flights of varietal beer. Brunch is served on the weekends.
No nearby lodging noted. Tasting room is handicap accessible. When on the west side of Phoenix, also check out Dubina Brewing, State 48 and Richter Aleworks.
