In the fall of 2019 the Phoenix Ale Brewery was sold to a new group of investors and re-opened as PHX Beer Co. Greg Fretz and George Hancock opened Phoenix Ale Brewery in 2011.

A group of local real estate developers purchased Phoenix Ale Brewery’s locations and equipment. Head brewers are Eric Walter and Jason “Popeye” Marhle.

The brewery and taphouse are located in Phoenix. The new owners also opened a Scottsdale lakeside restaurant.. One can also find a Sky Harbor airport location.

Experience

We were never big fans of Phoenix Ale Brewery but we were excited to find out how PHX Beer Co would be. We have been to the Scottsdale site in McCormick Ranch a few times since it opened. The variety of beer offerings and the quality of their beer is improving. They also offer cans to go and their product can be found in local stores.

The Scottsdale location is adjacent to a greenbelt, bike path and lake. Nice views and a place to stroll after a visit. There is plenty of parking and the place is easily accessible. In nice weather the patio is great. Plenty of tables inside and an L shaped bar. The food menu is typical brew pub food with an upscale twist. Pizza, wings, burgers and sandwiches. On many weekends they do a BBQ. Brunch on the weekends is a welcome offering at a brewpub. Delicious food, excellent service in a lovely location.

Plenty of good hotels and resorts in Scottsdale. The closest is Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch. When in the area check out Fate Brewing , Goldwater Brewing and Bone Haus Brewing.
