Remnant Brewing, Somerville, MA

Background – Remnant Brewing

Across the river from Boston, Somerville’s Union Square is home to a new brewery started by David Kushner and Joel Prickett called Remnant Brewing. Kushner who gained brewery experience at John Harvard’s Brewery & Prickett who spent some time at Lord Hobo teamed up with head brewer Charlie Cummings to open Remnant Brewing in May 2018.

Experience

The brew tanks are located along one side of the pub with a long bar overlooking. Pleasant private dog friendly patio with comfy chairs and tables. Friendly beertender ready to talk beer. After only being open for a few months, Cummings, who had worked at Mystic Brewing, had eight varieties of beer available. A sour, a saison, two IPAs, a barrel aged rye and hoppy pale ales.  Most of the beers have a great hop presence in aroma and flavor without any bitterness. The Beginners Mind dark ale is a surprise with a slightly dank flavor and aroma. This new brewery is definitely worth a visit . Food is not available in the brewery.  The concept is that people can grab a coffee or pastry or get food at one of the neighboring restaurants and bring it into the brewery.  It’s a nice place to hang out and drink good beer.
