Background
Revolution Brewing was started as a brewpub in 2010 by owner Josh Deth. Deth worked at Goose Island Brewery and connected with head brewmaster Jim Cibak during his time there.
Experience
Revolution Brewing is a good beer outpost in an up and coming neighborhood in the process of gentrification. Inside you will find plenty of the newly moved in hipsters and craft beer drinkers. The food is quite excellent, a good value for the price. The beer and atmosphere, however, is fairly pedestrian. The beers on tap seem to be oriented to the mainstream beer consumer in the country; evident by the fact that their beer is sold throughout the country.
Revolution Brewing seems to focus on wheats, making it a good stop for those wheat beer lovers. Even though the beer may not be adventurous, they still make a fine beer that is worth checking out if you have time. Even so, its not worth going out of your way for, especially since their beer is available in shops around the midwest and east coast. My favorite was definitetely the Rosa, which is canned and available for consumption even outside of Illinois.
This brewery is a very short walk from the blue line California stop in Chicago, with plenty of other up-and-coming bars and restaurants on the same block.
When in Chicago, be sure to check out Begyle Brewing Company.
