Background – River City Brewing
River City Brewing Company opened in 1993 in the heart of downtown Sacramento. They are the oldest brew pub in Sacramento still operating. In 2015 River City moved to Carmichael CA to begin a new and exciting chapter.
River City prides itself on only using the finest ingredients when brewing and always source local ingredients when possible. The brewer Ben Barker started with River City in 1995 to 1999 and returned in 2013. His commitment to this craft, shows in his beers.
Experience
When we visited they inhabited a mall area within walking distance to a hotel. We happened to be there when a live band was playing nearby. River City was in a shopping mall on edge of an open area that at times has live bands. We had a table on the patio where they were BBQing oysters, yum. Diverse menu, ribs were excellent and eggplant stack appetizer was great. Standard flight of beers Kolsch, Porter, IPA, Amber and Pale Ale all drinkable. Especially nice to be able to walk under the highway to OLD SAC where there are interesting shops and bars. Worth a try when in Sacramento.
The new facility is not near a hotel.
