Background – St. Pete Brewing
Tom Williams and his wife Michelle opened St. Pete Brewing in 2014. Tom has always had a love of beer. While attending Boston University, Tom was inspired by Sam Adams and began home brewing. After some time in San Francisco he moved to St. Petersburg when he started home brewing again. During this time, Tom financed over 100 microbreweries with his finance company “eLease”. That experience enabled him to learn more about the business side of the industry and become passionate about opening a brewery.
A few years before the brewery opened, Williams debuted his St. Pete Orange Wheat at the Ale and the Witch, an American craft beer tavern that Williams’ company, e-Lease, helped finance. That beer has been contract-brewed and bottled in Maryland from the start, so while the business was based in St. Petersburg the beer was brewed many states away. That continued even after the brewery opened.
Jon McCracken is St. Pete’s brewer.
Experience
St. Pete Brewing offers indoor & outdoor seating. It is about a block over from Cycle Brewing and probably walkable from the Indigo or Hampton Inn.
We started with a flight. We liked: Summer Ale – Lemon wheat, unique & refreshing, Greatful Stout- great smokey coffee nose, and Milo IPA with a bit of a nose and good flavor.
A fun place to drop in while walking around downtown St. Petersburg. It is handicap accessible. They do not offer food on site. They have growler & crowler fills available.
When in the area check out Cycle Brewing, 3 Daughters Brewing, Green Bench Brewing and Brewers Tasting Room !
