Keel & Curley Winery, where Two Henrys is located there’s a blueberry farm on site, and Keel & Curley owns another blueberry farm and a peach farm just down the road. And he’s working with several other local breweries and a University of Florida agricultural program to try and hybridize hops that will grow in Florida’s climate; test plants are right on the property.
Two Henrys in Plant City Florida is located a bit off a beaten path. There is no huge sign to even let you know you are there. It seems like a large house in the country, there is a pond adjacent to the property. Walking in, it feels like a blast from the past saloon/country store. Country music was playing and a large wooden bar lined one wall. Wooden tables fill a good size dining room. The place oozes history. The brewery is named for the two great Henrys who helped make Florida. Henry Plant and Henry Flagler were responsible for the building of railroads and hotels in Florida in the late 1800’s. After just visiting the majestic Tampa Bay Hotel the day before it was fun to toast Henry Plant with a beer and a glass of blueberry wine.
The brewery is located on the site of Keel & Curly winery. According to our bartender, the owner of the property grew blueberries. He grew so many blueberries he started to make wine. There were several varieties of blueberry and other fruit wines and ciders to try. Of course there was a blueberry beer. We tried the Roasted Jalapeno Blueberry Porter that was quite tasty. The Helles lager and Kolsch was pretty good too.
A large deck outside overlooked the little pond and surrounding vineyards. It seemed like a place where one could have a great party. It was a friendly place in a peaceful setting. We didn’t eat, but the railcar91 menu was full of some great options. We did take a bottle of the dry blueberry wine to drink near the beach later on.
