Two Roads Brewing, Stratford, CT

Background

Two Roads Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by four friends who dreamed for years of starting a craft brewery. Master Brewer Phil Markowski comes from an engineering background. Brad Hittle background is former Chief Marketing Officer at the Pabst Brewing Company. Clement Pellani has a brewing degree from the Siebel Institute of Technology. Peter Doering is in charge of finances and makes sure the other three guys don’t give away too much beer to friends.

In fall 2018, Two Roads opened its second facility, Area Two Experimental Brewing right next door. The expansion will include a brewing campus comprised of a 25,000-square-foot barrel-aging and souring facility with enough space to stack 1,500 barrels, along with Two Roads’ very own coolship. Area Two will also have a tasting room on site, with an outdoor deck overlooking a wetlands preserve.

Experience

Two Roads Brewing is a big brewery with the business end on the ground floor and the tasting room on the second floor.  Got there on a drizzly night and started with a spud from the Spud Stud truck out front, excellent.  Tried a flight of Workman’s Comp Saison, No Limits Heferweisen, Road Jam Raspberry Wheat, Route of All Evil Black Ale, & Lil Heaven Session IPA.  Loved the IPA and got a 6 pack to go in the store.  Also loved the Road 2 Ruin double IPA.  All of their beers were good.  One of the things that lead us to Two Roads was the sour they released the weekend before we got there.  We heard people lined up outside the door and the keg didn’t last through the first day.  The barkeeps and bar backs were very friendly and helpful.

There is no elevator available to get to the tasting room.

There is a Quality Suites on the other side of I95 about one third of a mile from the brewery.
