Background

Woodland Republic Brewing & Blending is the brainchild of Jesse Ewing, a devoted home-brewing enthusiast since 2004. The development of Woodland Republic took shape during the COVID-19 pandemic when Ewing drafted a business plan and began transforming his dream into reality. Woodland Republic opened the doors in 2021.

One of the things that distinguishes Woodland Republic is their sour beers. Ewing created a coolship room where they open the windows and let the wild yeast flow into their wort. Then they mature these brews in both oak and stainless-steel barrels. Woodland also creates kettle sours, some with fruit and coffee as well as interesting stouts.

Experience

Woodland Republic Brewing was our favorite brewery in the heart of historic downtown Rapid City! Google maps will take you to the real estate building in front but the brewery is down the alley behind the real estate office. There isn’t a lot of parking, so if it’s busy you can park in the parking garage across the street and walk.

We enjoyed helpful and friendly staff. We were impressed with the number and variety of beer offered. We had to try their hazy IPAs, stouts and sours. All styles were delicious. Woodland offers Crowler fills to go and they have some Merch. The tasting room is also dog friendly. We suggest you give them a try!
