4 Hands Brewing Company, St. Louis, MO

Kevin Lemp launched 4 Hands Brewing Company in a 20,000-square-foot facility near downtown St. Louis in 2011.  The name 4 Hands refers to his family, Kevin, his wife Meagan and their two sons. Lemp spent his career in beverage sales and marketing before making the leap into craft brewing. His background of working with start ups that either flourished or failed, gave him a helpful insight into the business. 4 Hands Brewing Company opened producing 1,600 barrels of beer. By 2016 they grew to a production of 16,300 barrels. Currently, their focus appears to be mainly in Missouri. In 2017, Lemp announced 4 Hands was expanding to include 1220 Artisan Spirits. In 2018 they will be focusing on their Sour program.

What drew us to 4 Hands is the variety of beer they produce. Everything from unique Belgian styles, to varietal IPA’s to barrel aged Saisons and Stouts. The tasting room is an inviting space with plenty of tables and a bar, all overlooking the brewery. We arrived on a Tuesday early evening to find a fairly full tasting room, but had no issue finding a spot at the bar. They don’t have flights per say but will serve up all the “taster” sized pours you request. Especially enjoyed Dakine tropical IPA, Incarnation & Liam IPAs, Cash Money IIPA, Guildsman Grenache a farmhouse & the Absence of Light Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout. I understand they haven’t food available very long but now have partnered with local eateries to supply a nice variety. I enjoyed the brisket. They also offer a variety of canned and bottled 4 Hands beers. A must visit when in St. Louis.

No nearby lodging noted other than a Bed & Breakfast or two.
