Fate Brewing, Phoenix, AZ
Background
Fate Brewing Company in Arizona started in 2012 when Steve McFate opened the doors of his little 7bbl brewing system near Shea and Scottsdale Roads.
A much larger 2nd location opened in 2015 on Scottsdale Road, south of McDowell Road in the southern most part of the city and close to the campus of Arizona State University. The larger facility is where all of the brewing takes place. There is a huge outside patio adjoining the large full service bar and dining room. A more extensive food menu is available.
After almost seven years, the original north Scottsdale location was closed. In 2019 Steve McFate sold out to his silent partner, Steve Ellefson. Also in that year, Fate Tempe was opened.
In 2023, the third location opened, Fate Brewing Phoenix on 7th street, north of Indian School Road.
Experience
We really enjoy visiting the Seventh street location. It’s easy to get into, new, comfortable, and also has a large patio area. Head brewer Adam Schmeichel has been with Fate since the beginning. His repertoire has grown and now creates a wide variety of beers.
As mentioned, you can usually find 20 different beers to choose from. Their food menu is pretty diverse and we enjoy brunch on the weekends. We run into Steve McFate from time to time around town and still have fond memories of the original Tap and Barrel and all the crew that worked there.
Fate Brewing Phoenix is very accessible. The tasting room offers canned beers to go. When in the area you must check out Roses by the Stairs and Wren House Brewing!
