Druthers Brewing Co., Albany, NY

Chris Martell and his brothers had been brewing beer out of Chris’s garage in Sarasota for a number of years.  One day the stars aligned and all three brothers decided to go all in on owning and running their own brew pub. In addition to capital investment, each brother had to pledge their homes, retirement accounts and emergency savings as collateral for the financing. Their bet seems to be turning out well. They opened the first brew pub in 2012 in Saratoga Springs, New York and it proved to be quite popular. After a brief stint running the on site restaurant/bar at McGregor Links Country Club the summer of 2015 , they opened the second brew pub in Albany in 2015. The Albany site at three times the size of the Sarasota Springs facility allowed Druthers to produce 24,000 kegs per year.

We went to the Albany Druthers on a Friday afternoon. It is a large building with a restaurant side and a bar side. Quite a few people there but we found a spot at the bar. We found some interesting beers and some excellent food. Really loved “The Dare” an excellent Gose, tart, light salt, got a Crowler to go.  Thought the “All in IPA” was also pretty good. We also loved the lobster deviled eggs! A must stop when traveling near Albany.

No nearby lodging noted.
