Pure Brewing Project, San Diego, CA

Background

The idea of opening a brewery began for Agi and Jesse Pine in Costa Rica where they lived and home brewed for three years. When building the infrastructure was revealed as a budget buster in Costa Rica, they got with their friend Mat Robar and decided it would happen in San Diego. Pure Brewing Project opened in Miramar in early 2016. They discovered young brewer Winslow Sawyer from Northern California and began producing a couple recipes they brought from Costa Rica. They continue to produce a variety of unique beers.

Experience

We arrived early on a Monday afternoon with just a few other people in the tasting room. Our beer tender was great and we enjoyed “Thousands of Money” a nice Mosaic hop IPA, “Still Drei” a unique and funky Rye & Brett IPA, “Murklands” a citra hop Pale, “Delphine” a beautiful Dragon Fruit tart Berlinner and “Evangeline” an excellent sour grapfruit Gose. Pure Brewing Project is an excellent little brewery that is a must try when in San Diego. Right next door to Amplified.

We visited again recently and found the Pure Project to be packed with patrons. Enjoyed several new delicious offerings in our flight. Murk of the Beast, a new favorite!

No nearby lodging noted. Pure does not have food on site. You can buy canned beer on site.
