Background
Albert and Joni Upsher were the founders and original owners of Snake River Brewing in March 1994. They were the first brewery in Wyoming.
In the early-80’s, Al quit his job as a stock broker in New York City to head West, to McMinville, Oregon, where he owned a Budweiser distributor. When the craft beer boom started, Al decided to open a small brewery and moved to his favorite ski town, Jackson Wyoming. The Upshers bought an old Pepsi warehouse, renovated it, and opened the doors to Snake River Brewing.
In 2006, Ted Staryk and his wife, Noa, bought the Brew Pub from the Upshers. They have worked hard to maintain the character and hospitality of “Jackson’s living room”.
Experience
We first visited SRB back in the early 2000’s and I’ve got the coaster to prove it!
After a day of enjoying the surroundings, we arrived at the busy brewpub on a Thursday afternoon. Downstairs is a bar and tables. Upstairs we found several families enjoying foosball and other games. SRB also has an expansive outdoor area with more gaming opportunities.
We grabbed a table and enjoyed a “Jenny Lake” lager and “Earned It” New England IPA. Reviewing the menu, we decided try their smoked trout dip which was delicious! Their menu includes pizzas, pastas, burgers, soups, sandwiches and much more. The service was good and enjoyed the live music. When in Jackson Hole, we suggest you pay Snake River Brewing a visit!
The brewpub is accessible. There is a Springhill Suites not far. If you are traveling to West Yellowstone we suggest you visit Yellowstone Beer Company.
